How to use a Cybersecurity Framework in a ‘Compliant Way’

Security is different from compliance, but both are equally important and can also support each other.
In this presentation, Fred Streefland will show how the NIST Cybersecurity Framework can be leveraged to achieve a certain cybersecurity maturity for the organization and at the same time become fully compliant with the required compliance standard. This presentation will explain that compliance should not be the booster for the required cybersecurity maturity, but that security should be the booster for a compliant organization.

Fred Streefland

Fred Streefland graduated in 1992 from the Netherlands Royal Military Academy and served 16 years as an Intelligence & Security officer (LtCol) within the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF). In 2008, he moved to the private sector and worked for several companies like IBM, Accenture, Leaseweb and Palo Alto Networks. Currently, he is the Field CISO, EMEA for Check Point. Fred holds an Executive Master of Security & Defense (EMSD) of the Netherlands Staff College and a Bachelor title Management, Economics & Law of the University of Applied Sciences of Amsterdam.
